Smooth everyday life in a new location and versatile facilities for Valmet's experts
Valmet moved most of its operations in Järvenpää to new premises in Tikkurila, Vantaa, in spring 2025. The goal was to move to a modern, more accessible location that would better support the everyday life of the developing organization. The six-story office complex was built to provide versatile and functional work environments that combine clarity, ergonomics, and high-quality design.
Spaces that serve the rhythm of work
The new spaces were designed by the architectural firm Gullstén & Inkinen, with Jari Kinnunen, Riina Riikonen, Leea Åberg, and Hanna Gullstén on the design team. Seppo Kaukiainen acted as Valmet's project manager and Tatu Silventoinen from JLL as project consultant. Martela was responsible for the furnishings, relocation, and recycling of furniture.
The aim was to combine practicality, comfort, and versatility in the premises. The collaboration resulted in a working environment that is easy to concentrate, gather, and meet in. Retreat areas, team rooms, and common areas form a cohesive but flexible whole. The building also houses a staff restaurant, a gym, and a bicycle storage and charging room.
"The furnishings in the new premises support exactly the kind of everyday life that Valmet wanted. The collaboration went very well – the end result combines practicality, design, and responsibility."
— Seppo Kaukiainen, Project Manager at Valmet
Timeless design and responsible implementation
Martela's own collection was used extensively in the new premises: electrically adjustable Pinta EQC desks, Face table screens, and ergonomic James task chairs were chosen for the workstations, while PodBooth and PodBooth Duo solutions were provided for retreats and quiet moments. The meeting rooms were furnished with clean-lined Frankie and Spot tables, as well as Eddy folding tables that can be moved around as needed. The seating solutions combined style and comfort: Kilta chairs, Mini Kilta chairs, and Noora sofas brought character and warmth to the premises. The Kilta chair is already a classic, having been in production for 70 years. Storage solutions were implemented using the Combo cabinet series and Capa lockers.
The look of the spaces was completed with selected products from Martela's partner brands. Inno's In-tensive tables and Taivu and Lab chairs were selected for the meeting rooms. Into Concept's Top Lift tables and Point sofas were used in the more acoustic spaces. The overall look was completed with a versatile selection of lighting and design furniture: &Tradition's Flowerpot lamps, Louis Poulsen's iconic lights, Vitra Physix meeting chairs, Lepo's Moderno chairs, and Hay's Palissade outdoor furniture brought a recognizable international quality to the whole. The details also featured Muuto, Lundia, and Artek, which complemented the timeless yet lively interior design.
Practical smoothness from the day of the move
Martela took care of the installation of furniture and changes to the premises precisely according to schedule. Existing furniture that was suitable for the new premises was moved along. The rest of the furniture was either sold through Martela Outlet or recycled responsibly. The end result was a working environment where everything was ready from the very first day of work.
- Delivery and installation of loose furniture
- Relocation of personnel from the old office
- Transfer and updating of existing furniture
- Sale of furniture to be removed through Martela Outlet
- Recycling of unnecessary furniture
A space that supports community spirit and diverse working styles
The collaboration between Valmet and Martela combined responsibility, functionality, and clear design. The new premises provide space to concentrate, gather, and work smoothly — today and in the future.
