The future working environment at Nokia Home of Radio

Nokia Home of Radio is one of the world's most advanced research and product development facilities. Located in Oulu, the 55.000-square-meter smart campus brings together office space and industrial facilities under one roof, housing product development laboratories and a base station factory. Nokia Home of Radio employs 3.000 people.

The design agency Fyra was responsible for the work environment and interior design, while ALA Architects was responsible for the architectural design of the main building. Martela carried out the removal of the office and production facilities, including the laboratories, and was responsible for all the loose furniture on the campus, as well as its delivery, installation, and implementation.

A work environment where brand and nature meet

One of the goals of the campus was to create a work environment that supports future work, technological development, and Nokia's strong brand. The facilities bring all key functions together under one roof in a flexible and scalable way.

Nokia employees were involved in the design of the premises from the beginning. The nine office floors form a entity, with each floor having its own colour scheme inspired by northern nature.

Nordic wood architecture, natural materials, and expansive views of coniferous forests bring nature into everyday working life. The premises support concentration, encounters, and collaboration.

Responsible furnishing as part of the whole

Martela's role was to implement a comprehensive furnishing solution responsibly and in accordance with the plan. All loose furniture was purchased through Martela.

A significant portion of the furniture was reused from Nokia's other offices: approximately 40% of the furniture was refurbished and reupholstered to fit into the new campus. In this way, the old and new furnishings create a cohesive, high-quality whole that supports the durability and sustainability of the spaces.
